Hi Panthers,
This week we will be working on the CCSD Learning Extensions offered through CCSD. Here the directions on the  link

Hi Parents and Students,
 In order to promote a consistent and equitable approach to the instruction please visit  www.ccsd.net, Student Learning Extension Opportunities. There is an online version of the learning extensions or a hard copy may be picked up at any of the 15 distribution sites. 
 
Students are also encouraged to utilize MAPs Accelerator, Exact Path, and Study Island. All of my students have Google Classroom. I will post "assignments" in Google Classroom for all students and parents who would like to utilize resources to help keep students learning while not in the classroom. These assignments are optional.  


March 23-27

Hi Panthers!
The activities that are posted on Google Classroom are extensions for you. They are not graded and are optional. However, if you would like to create a "Passion Blog" and focus on something positive, join me.

Remember that you need to go Classwork, click blog, and ONLY work from the Passion Blog Playlist going down. We are only doing step one this week. If you can't work from Google Classroom, you are more than welcome to write the answers on a piece of paper. 

March 10-13

This week, students will learn the Objective and Subjective summaries. 
Students will also learn how to annotate an article and analyze textual evidence. 
 
There will be a test on Friday on the notes and students are welcome to retake the quiz from last Friday to improve the grade.  

Makeup work

Students may make up and redo any assignment until Wednesday, March 4. Students had time in class on Friday and Monday to check grades and makeup assignments. All makeup work is posted in Google Classroom; however, if any student needs a hard copy of an assignment, please come see me. 

Dec 2- Dec 6

Welcome back Panthers!

    This week we are still focusing on narrative techniques. We are still working on  the diary entries. Remember we are on an island and we are writing about our experiences on the island.   For each diary entry you need these five items: 

1)Use 2-3 types of figurative language in each diary entry

2.)Use imagery to “show” and not just “tell” what’s going on

(consider sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell at all times)

3) Use paragraphs to keep things organized.

4) Use all kinds of sentences (short and long— don’t keep it all the same!)

5) Your image must be directly related to the most important part of each diary entry

(write a caption for each image that comes right from your diary entry).


    I graded your first two entries  before the break. If you received a low grade, make sure to re-do the work if you want a better grade. 

         This week, we will focus on conflict and dialogue. You will have two more diary entries due this week. 

October 28- Nov 1

Hi Panthers,

  Today we took the Four Types of Sentence test in Google Classroom. You should receive an email at the end of the day with your grade. Also, your narrative with dialogue is also due today. You will have class time to work on it, but I will grade it when you leave class. Please check Infinite Campus

Remember, you can improve some of your assignments. If you dislike your grade, you may retake or redo some assignments. You must schedule a day to come see me in the mornings, or on some Fridays, you may retake the test.  IF you are redoing an assignment, you need to do the assignment, then you must email me at [email protected], and write what assignment it is, and I will be happy to regrade your work. 


October 28-November 1

This week, we will focus on descriptive details. We will add more details to your narrative. 

Sep 16-20

-This week, students will learn how to peer edit and revise sentences to improve the writing in "Random Autobiography".
-Test on compound sentences on Tuesday. 
-Students will learn how to construct a complex sentence and use various examples in writing. 

August 26-30

This week, we will focus on grammar skills and determine what students know by taking a written pre-assessment and working on MAPS. Students also competed in a spelling bee on Monday and are learning about the various tools in Google Doc. 

August 19-23

Welcome Panthers!

We made it through the first week of school! The first assignment to be graded is the Course Expectations sheet. Please have your parents sign the Course Expectations sheet. It is a grade. If you received a zero for not turning it in, or you forgot to put your name on your paper, please grab another sheet and turn it in to receive a grade. 

This week students will understand, practice, and reflect what it means to have P.R.I.D.E. 

Students will also understand the classroom rules and procedures. 

I will assign students a Chromebook and sign in to Google Classroom. 

Students will take a MAPs pretest. 

Test on P.R.I.D.E. vocabulary and classroom procedures.
