CCSD - MAGNET APPLICATION
About Hyde Park Middle School Magnet Program
Hyde Park is a STEM-based magnet middle school. When you apply for Hyde Park, you only have to select our school once to have access to our amazing program. All magnet students participate in our Ancient Civilizations/Project Lead the Way elective throughout all three years of the program. Each year includes:
- One semester of Ancient Civilizations
- One semester of Project Lead the Way
Every grade level has a different area of focus, allowing students to explore how past innovations inspire future innovations through engaging, hands-on study.
Magnet Program Eligibility
All CCSD magnet middle schools are interest-based, meaning there are no academic or testing requirements for eligibility. We encourage families to explore all middle school magnet options carefully.
To help with your decision, we highly recommend attending CCSD Choice Fairs and individual school open houses to determine which programs best fit your child’s interests.

Lottery Process
All CCSD magnet programs use a blind, computerized lottery to determine enrollment. Lottery results are posted on the applicant’s dashboard in their SchoolMint account. We recommend enabling notifications so you are alerted as soon as results are available.
Lottery Outcomes:
- Selected – The student has been offered a seat and must accept by the stated deadline.
- Alternate Pool – The student is on a waiting list. Vacancies are offered to students in the alternate pool through another blind lottery.
- Not Qualified – The student did not meet the requirements to enter the lottery.
Accepting a Seat and Alternate Placement
If a student is offered a seat, it must be accepted through the online application platform by the stated deadline.
Students not selected in the initial lottery are placed in the alternate pool. If a selected student declines their seat, the vacancy will be offered to a student from the alternate pool through another blind, computerized lottery. This process continues through the first two weeks of school.
If seats remain available after the initial lottery and alternate pool have been exhausted, late applications will be considered and filled using the same blind lottery process.
Commitment and Transportation
By accepting a seat at Hyde Park Middle School, students are committing to enrollment for the entire school year and agreeing to follow the expectations outlined in the CCSD Magnet Contract.
Once a seat is accepted, students cannot accept a seat at another campus or program.
Please confirm transportation eligibility before accepting a seat. Bus transportation is only provided to students who live within Hyde Park Middle School’s transportation boundaries.
PLEASE NOTE: Students who live outside the transportation zone and accept a seat will not be released to return to their home/zoned school once the school year begins, for transportation issues. If you have further questions regarding transportation, please contact the CCSD Transportation Department at 702-799-8111.
