This week's focus is on argumentative writing and speaking.


On Monday, we will go over the test we did last week. Students are able to make test corrections to make up ½ points for each problem. This is due on Wednesday.  Students must also annotate examples essay that is due on Tuesday.


On Tuesday, students will reflect and develop rubrics on strong evidence, counterclaim, and rebuttal. Students will take quick notes to assist with the rubric. Then they will respond to two peers’ examples in a substantive way. Students who have not done the outline that was due last week will need to email/write their parents and explain why they did not do the assignment and develop a plan to improve. The final copy of the outline is due on Thursday.


On Wednesday, students will practice context for nonfiction on NoRedInk. They have until Monday to complete the assignment. Students will also develop rules for civil discussions to prepare to have a debate on Friday on energy drinks. Students’ test corrections are due this day.  


On Thursday we will pick up where we left on on Wednesday and discuss the rules for civil discussions. Students will need to review notes and outline to prepare for the debate on Friday. The final outline is also due today.  


On Friday, students will work on Friday Free write. Then, students will have a civil discussion.
