Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! I am so excited to be teaching 6th grade English Language Arts this year at Hyde Park Middle School.

If you are in my ELA class this year, you can look forward to reading lots of wonderful novels and short stories in a variety of genres, including nonfiction, literature, dramas, and poetry. You will learn how to analyze literature of diverse themes, as well as types of conflict, figurative language, author's purpose, author's style, and points of view. For English, we will focus on grammar, punctuation, objective and formal writing, MLA guidelines, and the five paragraph essay. You will also be writing a narrative nonfiction piece. I look forward to meeting you and to having a fun and successful school year!
