Empower the Future
Prepare an Artwork.
The purpose of Empower the Future Art Competition is two-fold.
First, to provide an opportunity for young artists to gain experience presenting artwork in public places and demonstrating the talent and skill of our magnet school students. Second, supporting a nonprofit organization, Project 150, by donating artwork to be sold at the event. All artwork submitted will be sold and funds will be donated. Media: Art students must work towards and create work in a suitable media to best express the focal concept of the theme. Each art teacher may submit a maximum of 3 pieces for consideration. Theme: Empower the Future Artwork
Acceptable Media 2D media only: drawing, painting, photography, and digital illustration. Digital works and Photography must be submitted as a high quality print mounted on mat board.
Size & Mounting Requirement All works must be mounted on matboard, matboard cannot exceed 20” x 32”.

Awards: Cash prizes will be awarded for one Best in Show plus a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for Elementary School level, Middle School level and High School level students. Prize list is as follows: $200 for Best in Show, $100 for 1st Place, $75 for 2nd Place, $50 for 3rd Place.
Rules
All artwork submitted to the Empower the Future Juried Arts Competition will be displayed during the exhibition and must be available from January 31st through April 20th. * All artwork submitted is considered a donation/gift that may be sold at the event. All proceeds will be donated to benefit the organization Project 150. About Project 150 Project 150 is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charitable organization, founded in December 2011 by local businessmen Don Purdue and Patrick Spargur. The two had heard about 150 homeless high school students at Rancho High School in Las Vegas who were in need of support over the Christmas break. Since that time, Project 150 has expanded and now serves more than 6,000 registered and non-registered homeless, displaced and disadvantaged high school students in more than 75 schools throughout Nevada. Project 150 provides these students with food, clothing, school supplies, sports equipment, shoes, college and workforce readiness and other needs so they have what they need to continue school and be successful in life. * Each art teacher will be allowed to submit a maximum of 3 entries to be included in the exhibition. * All artwork must be mounted on matboard and ready for display * Artwork not sold will be available for pick up April 20, 2020 from LVA between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. * LVA/CCSD will not be responsible for the safety of artwork not picked up according to schedule. * Artwork must belong to a CCSD magnet student and be the student's original art * Copies of other artists’ work will not be accepted, nor will copies of published photos or work from photos not taken by the art student * Artwork must be completed within the last year * Artwork must be created by a full time CCSD magnet student who is currently enrolled in a CCSD magnet school with a CCSD instructor * Instructor must drop-off the artwork(s) on or before January 31st by 5:00 pm. * Each category will be reviewed separately by conference participants and will not be subdivided by media for judging purposes
Donations: Artwork submitted is considered a donation. The event is created as a fundraiser to benefit Project 150. All artwork received will be up for sale during the 38th National Conference on Magnet Schools.
