Art III SKETCHBOOK ASSIGNMENTS – 3rd quarter You will have two sketchbook entries per week. One entry will be different each week. The other is an ongoing study of an object of your choice (the same object each week for 9 weeks). Sketchbooks will be checked every Friday unless otherwise noted. Each entry needs to be labeled with the date. You may add other information such as how long you spent on it, other ideas you came up with as you worked on it, things you want to change or continue working on, etc.
January 24: ❏ 1. Line drawing of your chosen object for ongoing study. ❏ 2. Do at least two “Upside Down” drawings.
January 31: ❏ 1. Shaded drawing of your chosen object for ongoing study. ❏ 2. Choose a very small object (popcorn, key, earring, flower, etc.) and draw it so that it fills the page and expands off one or two sides of the paper.
February 7: ❏ 1. Shaded drawing of your chosen object for ongoing study. ❏ 2. Draw a distorted reflection from observation (e.g. in a spoon).
February 14: ❏ 1. Drawing of your chosen object for ongoing study. ❏ 2. Relate your entry to our current assignment.
February 21: ❏ 1. Drawing of your chosen object for ongoing study. ❏ 2. Write the word “Art” at the top left corner of your page. Make a stream of consciousness word list that fills the page.
February 28:
❏ 1. Drawing of your chosen object for ongoing study. ❏ 2. Choose one of the past sketchbook assignments and re-do it.
March 6:
❏ 1. Drawing of your chosen object for ongoing study. ❏ 2. Contour line drawing of a shoe.
March 13 (Thursday): ❏ 1. Drawing of your chosen object for ongoing study. ❏ 2. Choose a common object. Do three drawings on one page that show a metamorphosis of that object into something else. Use pencil, colored pencil or marker.
