Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! As eighth-grade students, this year is the capstone of each student's middle school education, and successful academic performance can open doors to many opportunities. The students will transition from our middle school to high school next year. Many students from my classes are now in magnet and career-technical schools for grades 9-12. Who knows? You might be the next student to accelerate to the future using STEM skills to fuel your high school success.
The course expectations will be posted by August 16, 2021.
In the meantime the following supply list is encouraged for each student:
backpack (required to receive the school-issued Chromebook)
one composition book
one folder with prongs
earbuds/earphones for Chromebook/computer (auxiliary jack or Bluetooth)
post-it notepad packets
an independent reading book (should be brought each day to class)
lined, college-ruled, notebook paper
Other voluntary donations for the classroom could be:
one ream of white or colored printer/copier paper
disinfectant wipes for cleaning shared classroom spaces
Since we are transitioning to one-to-one Chromebooks, the Chromebook and its charger must be transported to school each day. Charging the device is the student's responsibility. In order to safely move the device from home to school and back each day, students should have a backpack to protect this important and costly educational asset.
As we return to in-person education to open this school year, I am excited to see how we approach this coming year with the lessons learned during the pandemic. We are going to forge this "new normal" and build new approaches to traditional education.
I look forward to this next year, seeing each student share their abilities and talents inside and outside my classroom.
