Welcome, Panther students and families, to the ongoing celebration of 65 years of Hyde Park Middle School!

With gratitude, enthusiasm, and affection, I continue in the role of principal at Hyde Park Middle School, endeavoring to continue a tradition of excellence and opportunities for our students.  I am proud of Hyde Park Middle School’s dedicated and inspiring staff, talented and engaged students, and generous and involved families and community members.

I am proud to be part of a staff who forges close bonds with students and who are available to them for extra academic help, as well as for support of their extracurricular pursuits and social-emotional needs.  We will model, and you will learn, that the relationships established at Hyde Park Middle School are enduring.  We continue to strive for “Education for Mastery” and to celebrate learning as a life-long process. In addition, we are “Inspired by Excellence” and utilize the teachings and philosophies of Leonardo Da Vinci to see each day as a new opportunity to learn and discover more.

We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for ALL students, and student voice is encouraged and appreciated at HPMS.  Hyde Park Middle School students are offered a wealth of electives and after school opportunities to align their school experiences with goals for high school, college, careers, and life.  Panthers distinguish themselves in classrooms and competitions, in the arts, on the athletics fields, in giving to the school and community, and in encouraging and supporting one another.  Graduates of HPMS are prepared for high school and able to make informed choices about their futures, whether their paths lead them to magnet high schools, career and technical academies, or neighborhood high schools.

Our award-winning Hyde Park Middle School fine arts programs extend learning beyond the school day and provide wonderful opportunities for students to experience activities on and off campus, in Las Vegas and beyond.  Science Olympiad, Science Bowl, Math Counts, VEX Robotics, EV3 Robotics, and Future Cities are just a few of the competition groups that have competed on a national level. Our students compete, and do very well, in a multitude of academic competitions, such as Spelling Bees, Geography Bees, and nationally recognized math competitions. Students and teachers have experienced learning out of the classroom with field trips to the Springs Preserve, Disneyland, and various exhibitions offered around our city.

Our students continue to demonstrate academic excellence through state and national assessments. In addition to being recognized as a 5-Star School according to the Nevada School Performance Framework, Hyde Park Middle School was recognized as a National Title I Distinguished School in 2014.  Our faculty is committed to the increasing achievement of each and every student on our campus, as we continue to hone strategies and interventions to meet the needs of a diverse student body. 

I encourage our students to seek out and grasp new challenges, consider advanced and accelerated courses in areas of interest, join clubs aligned with passions, try out for athletics teams and clubs, and bring new ideas and initiatives to the staff and student body. Furthermore, our National Junior Honor Society and Student Council are wonderful opportunities for students to be involved at HPMS, providing students with exciting academic, leadership, and extracurricular opportunities. 

Finally, we encourage students and parents to get to know the teachers, counselors, administrators and support personnel at Hyde Park, who are committed to helping you achieve your personal goals and assist you with your needs along the way.
